Meet the artist
Forty years. One surface at a time.
She started with hand-painted tiles in 1989 and never stopped finding new surfaces to transform.
Thibodaux-born and self-taught, Connie Harris has spent more than forty years turning walls, cabinetry, ceilings, floors, and architectural details into original works of art. A distant cousin of Edgar Degas through his New Orleans-born mother, she carries that French Impressionist lineage in the way she sees color and light.
From her studio at Chatsworth Plantation in St. Gabriel, she creates private commissions and shares the craft with aspiring artists — the layering, patience, and instinct that make a surface feel alive. "It's God-given," she says. "I just absolutely love what I'm doing."
Working together
From first call
to finished room.
Every commission follows the same quiet rhythm — personal, unhurried, and shaped to your architecture and light.
-
Conversation
You share the room, the surfaces, and the atmosphere you want. Connie reads every inquiry herself.
-
Design
Materials, texture, and color are developed for your space — samples and direction before work begins.
-
Installation
The finish is built by hand in layers, then sealed and protected for the life of the room.
In their words
Driving over is always exciting — a wonderful and unique experience unfolding. Absolutely magical.
Beautiful artist. Every detail is considered. The work she left on our walls is something we show everyone who visits.
